A fiberglass replica of Ronald McDonald is Banksy‘s newest addition to his “Better Out Than In” project.
The sculpture, which could remind us of some despot from the XVI hundred, is having his shoes shined by a real live boy and will, aaccording to Banksy’s website, “visit the sidewalk outside a different McDonalds every lunchtime for the next week.”
The accompanying audio guide says “Ronald [is] arguably the most sculpted figure in history after Christ” The sculpture is “a critique of the heavy labor required to sustain the polished image of mega-corporation…Does this era have feet of clay and a massively large footprint to boot?”
The narrator also  notes that the face is actually of the Greek God Hermes and asks if this sculpture is a
reference to greek mythology or maybe that the artist had such difficulty sculpting the face he simply park on the nearest replica bust we could find… adding at the end “Its the second one”. What does he wants to say with that?

Don’t forget to watch the video below (was filmed yesterday in Bushwick)…
