Dissolving Europe is a project by Berlin based artist Vermibus who recently travelled around Europe highjacking the western world of advertisements in the name of fine art.

According to the artist each site was ‘carefully deliberated with its environment, from Rolex boutiques, to archaic museums.’  The process seems simple. Vermibus regularly collects advertising posters from the streets, using them in his studio as the base material for his work. It’s here that the process of transformation begins using solvent to brush away the faces and bodies of those portrayed in the adds. It’s these transformed pieces that later will be reintroduced into their original context, usually in a different location, city or country.
By removing the flesh of his subjects, Vermibus dehumanizes those figures that were already depersonalized by the advertising industry, in a search for that personality that was lost.
I have to admit. This is the first time I hear about Vermibus and I hope it’s not the last one. Great work.
