Zilda-Meditazione-Naples-1

Often when we talk about street artwork its more about the way the piece connects with its surroundings than the piece itself. That is the case of ‘Meditazione’, Žilda’s latest work in Naples.
The image itself is beautiful and when you add this fabulous location the result is breathtaking. Using both paint and pasting techniques, we get to reminisce about the past with classical works of art from the Renaissance, along with scenes from classic Roman cinema of the ’50s & ’60s.
For Zilda ‘replicating a work is not only interpreting it pictorially. The most important is what you do with that painting. I like picturing it, contextualizing it in the urban space and photographing it with regards to its surroundings. Sometimes I set up some kind of staging, shit like that.’
Lovely work, spectacular location…
