Lovely new work by Norwegian stencil artist Anders Gjennestad also known as Strøk, painted for Memorie Urbane 2014.
This 33 years old self-taught artist from Arendal, Norway base his work on his own photographs. He cuts each stencil layer by hand and plans the layers carefully to recreate the photographic visuals on new surfaces with impressive attention to detail.
“Everywhere I go I have a certain way of looking at things. Looking for opportunities and seeing things. I always take my camera to catch the things I see”. This certain way of looking at things also includes a close attention to surfaces and texture which he later transfers to his stencils.
The level of detail and not to mention the shadow work is just wonderful. Forget Dolk (NO) and remember Anders Gjennestad’s name!
