I’m just loving this new work by Dutch artist Daan Botlek whose silhouetted characters and abstract images clearly managed to catch my attention.
Botlek’s characters, often simple and site-specific, interact with the surrounding architectural elements in the most unexpected ways creating the illusion of volume and bringing them to life like in the case of ‘Gulliver’ (image above)
On the other hand we have the abstract work that, as seen in the images below, seems to connect the different architectural elements of the building in a balanced and flowing sequence.
The third stage of Botlek’s project deals with printing, making (again) use of the structure of the building, in this case the floor, to create unique backgrounds for a series of prints featuring the very same geometrical shapes painted on the walls, establishing  in this way a connection between these two. Loving the work, the concept and the project of course.
