A couple of weeks ago I wrote a short post about Italian artist Opiemme – often called ‘the poet of street art’ for fusing both poetry and letterform and whose work represents a fresh twist in the world of Street Art.
Since the beginning, Opiemme’s goal has been to bring poetry closer to people, to the streets where they fully visible picture words that can be read and images admired, always looking for new ways to present and explore poetry.
Characteristic and even recurrent is that centrifugal aspect of his images, text and letters seem to fly apart or rather be pushed back together into a different shapes dynamically expressing both tension and ease. Just like these new series of pieces painted in the streets of Chiang Mai during a recent trip to North Thailand. Here a few selected images to read and enjoy.
