This year’s Pow!Wow!Hawaii Street art festival is now coming to an end, but the walls painted during the event will stick for a while in our minds.
The festival counted with the participation of local and international artists such as Maya Hayuk, the duo Etam Cru, ROA, Case Ma’claim, Smithe, Tristan Eaton, Doze Green, Natalia Rak, Strøk, Alexis Díaz, Akut (from Herakut) and many others. Below a small selection:

Probably one of the best murals painted during this year’s Pow!Wow!Hawaii is the one painted by New York-based Maya Hayuk whose wright, colourful and thick multilayered murals always seem to become a sensation among visitors.

Titled “Brain Coral” this wall was a collaborative effort for the PangeaSeed‘s “Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans” project. The mural is a beautiful mix  of Case Ma’Claim’s photorealistic style and the graphic work of Smithe.

Wecouldn’t  miss the magic of Etam Cru, a duo composed by the artists Bezt and Sainer. According to some sources the duo had some problems with their originally assigned wall and ended up working on one which was much smaller than what we’re used to from them. Anyhow the quickly adjust to the new circumstances painting another dreamy piece showing a kid in a thick winter jacket eating snow flakes… in stark contrast to the tropical hawaiian climate.

Roa delivers in this occasion a bit of his signature imagery depicting local species with this double piece painted just outside of Lana lane studios. As usual, his mural wisely takes advantage of the architectural elements and obstacles in order to create unique pieces.

Painting with his brother Matt eaton, Los Angeles-based artist created this striking image of a samurai riding a horse in his signature patchwork technique which has always reminded me a lot of the work of American artist Pose.

Continuing his series of Roy Lichtenstein inspired works, D*Face adds some drama to the Hawaiian landscape creating this new mural showing a female character crying over the fact that her boyfriend can’t surf. Talking about important things in life…
