South African artist Faith47 is back in the streets of Johannesburg where she recently painted this beautiful piece titled ‘Una salus victis nullam sperare salutem’ a phrase from Virgil’s book 2 of ‘Aeneid’ and a latin poem written in the Augustan period: ‘the one safety for the vanquished is to abandon hope of safety surrendering to the knowledge that there is no hope, can bring deep courage.’
According to the artist, the mural was painted spanning two sides of an old, now-vacant department store, bringing movement to the fast-transforming African city centre troubled with urban decay and it’s located on the corner of Fox and Rissik street in Johannesburg.
