Legend of the Dragon HK2.1 Phil Akashi

Belgian born and Hong Kong based artist Phil Akashi is currently working on a Street Art project called Legend of the Dragon / “龍的傳說” that should be completed during this year. The idea behind the project is the representation of the dragon as a spiritual symbol for Chinese unity and pride for the country.
Each piece is composed of traditional seals imprints with Chinese characters “龍的傳人“ / descendants of the dragon using traditional Chinese paper cutting technique (or “剪纸“/Jianzhi) and aerosol spray to build a bridge between tradition and modernity and by choosing colours like black and blue, and black and white to express the idea of diversity in the contemporary Chinese unity. Interesting work.
