The Unexpected festival, curated by Charlotte Dutoit from JUSTKIDS and organized by 64.6 Downtown, took off last Thursday, September 3rd with Printology a retrospective art exhibition showcasing a wide range of iconic prints of some of the world leading street artists today at the University of Arkansas. The exhibition is curated by JUSTKIDS and sponsored by the UAFS Foundation.

The festival counts with the participation of renowned artists like Vhils, Roa, D*Face, Maser, Ana Maria, Biciclet Sem Freio and Askew who during the last week have been painting an embellishing some of downtown historic buildings. Aside from the mural festival, several other related activities have been taking place, that is the case of a spoken word night with Chicago poet and activist Malcolm London last Thursday and an Art in the Park event today Saturday September 12, where local artists will have an opportunity to paint in an open-air setting.

As stated by the organizers, the Unexpected festival presents an extraordinary opportunity to bring art to the Fort Smith community, and to engage the community on a meaningful level.
