Street Art encounter Openwalls Conference 2015

Last Monday October 26th was the opening of the third edition of the Openwalls Conferance in Barcelona, Spain.
Organized by Asociación Difusor the event intends to get together a series of artist and art critics in order to establish a dynamic and open dialogue about Street Art and its role in today’s society.
According to Openwalls the idea behind the project is to encourage the creation of a successful management model of urban art in Barcelona that also will allow the acquisition of more urban spaces to paint giving artists a unique opportunity to get closer to the society they are part off, and vice versa.
This new edition of the Openwalls Conference counts with the participation of renowned personalities from the street art word such as Borondo, Jordan Seiler, Zosen, Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada, American blogger RJ Rushmore, WOOL festival curator Lara Seixo Rodrigues and the legendary street art photographer Martha Cooper, just to mention a few of them, and will be offering both interesting debate panels and conferences, urban interventions and educational activities such as workshops leaded by guest artists.

Urban intervention by Jordan Seiler in the streets of Barcelona.

Workshops, tours and activities to be carried out within the framework of the Openwalls Conference 2015 are:
Tuesday 27 at 4pm at the CCCB, an open meeting dedicated to the conservation of urban art with artists and public by the Urban Art group of the GEIIC (Spanish Group of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works).
Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th, from 5 to 8pm, in the Espai Jove Boca Nord (37- 45 Agudells street, Barcelona), “Hasta la Cocina” subvertising workshop by Humo en la ciudad and Jordan Seiler.
Thursday 29th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at the Centre Cívic Convent de Sant Agustí (36 Comerç street, Barcelona), a round table about “Urban Art, Public Space and Education.” , a debate on the potential and educational challenges of creativity and participation in public space.
Friday 30th, from 6:30pm to 8pm, theoretical session in Boca Nord; and Saturday 31st at 11am, practical session at a meeting point to be determined, of “Guía Contemplativa de Barcelona” by Javier Abarca of Urbanario. It will be a guided tour through  Barcelona’s ignored segments.
Saturday 31st, from 4 to 7pm, at a meeting point TBD, guided tour on foot and by public transport through the Openwalls Conference 2015 interventions by Openwalls and from 2pm to 10pm in Raval quarter the closing event for this year’s conference.
