‘Neighbors Envy’ is German artist Rafael Gerlach aka SatOne‘s newest mural, this time for the Festiwall in the small town of Ragusa, Italy.
According to SatOne the surface to paint consisted of two separate walls connected by a glass structure in the middle. That was when the idea of „competition“ or „comparison“ came to his mind.
Having in consideration that Sicily has long been noted for its fertile soil and the pleasant climate of the island, favouring both agriculture and an excellent wine production, it is not surprising that SatOne decided to draw an analogy between two farmers that “compete“ for whom has the better garden/vegetables and our attitude towards life. Always competing with each other, never being happy with what we already have and forgetting how rich we actually are. Competing and desiring what others might have achieved in life only makes us poorer in spirit, making it difficult to find peace of mind and happiness.
