Last Friday, on December 16th, opened Shapes and Forms a new group show at PlasticMurs gallery featuring the work of five internationally renowned artists like SatOne1010, CT, Nawer and Nelio.
The exhibition consists in a new body of work created by the artists specifically for the occasion presenting an average of two pieces each.
The work presented reflects the development of these five artists during the last years. Common to all of them is that they have been able to successfully make the transition from the streets to fine art galleries inserting themselves into the contemporary art scene. Their visual vocabulary was forged on the street and in murals, with the particularity that they have focused their interests on abstraction, geometry and perception, creating languages from pure forms and colour.

SatOne is a clear example of this. His energetic and vibrant work intends to evoke a particular emotional response in the viewer, becoming a visual stimulus upon which the viewer is able to identify and project his or her own feelings and experiences. In his paintings the formal aspects of the work, colour for instance, become subordinated to the idea or concept of the painting aiming to create an expressive tool able to evoke and convey universal human emotions and ideas.
Others like Polish Architect, designer and street artist Nawer Areibach have developed a fresh, distinctive style creating images that are not only influenced by architecture, but also reflect a vision for urban structures. As his style evolves, the goal is to always strive forward in an effort to connect painting with architecture.
Following the tradition of Op Art, adds 1010 a touch of enigma to his work by creating portal-like pieces that underlined by amazing effects of optical illusions create a 3D cavern effect on a solid surface.
Nelio‘s abstract work, is not only influenced by graffiti, but also architecture, fine art painting and graphic design. He usually cites the symbols of the ancient Egyptians and the Maya and the influence of “futuristic movements such as Suprematism, Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Op Art” as references for his work, something that is clearly visible in most of his paintings.
Last, but not least, we have the work of Italian artist CT who has managed to develop a very unique  and extraordinary visual vocabulary, a fresh new style of graffiti of his own, going from a so-called wild style to focus on a hyper-simplified bold-faced lettering that plays with bold fonts, straight angles and bubbly curves, an experience he also applies to his gallery work.

Shapes and Forms will be on view through JANUARY 21 at the gallery located on Calle Denia 45, 46006. Valencia, Spain.
