Argentinian artist Martin Ron is currently in Australia where he just finished this new mural for the Wall to Wall festival in Benalla.
Titled “Picnic on Shark”, the new mural depicts just that, a couple of kids sitting on a shark suspended in the air and eating ice cream.

As in the rest of Martin Ron’s work, the new mural characterised by surrealist tendencies that, as expressed by the artists, are nothing else than “realism with a touch of fantasy”.
Encouraged by his parents Martin Ron started painting at a very young age. Since then he has specialised in the creation of large inspirational murals that mixes hyperrealism and fantasy segments intended not only to embellish the walls and surrounding areas on which they are painted, but also to inspire those who see them. This new wall is no exception.

About Martin Ron

Born in the province of Buenos Aires, the walls in the streets of Tres de Febrero were the starting point to think and develop his art, as it can be seen in Carlos Tevez ́ painting. And then, different neighbourhoods in the city of Buenos Aires, other provinces in Argentina, and countries like England, Spain, the USA, among others, have also seen his art.

Being a high-scale artist, he is constantly improving his style, and a world of fantasy can surprisingly appear in front of a passer-by in a giant piece of art on the wall of a high building. Martin paints elements of real life, and his paintings show that he knows the reality around him. His work includes well-known and popular celebrities- Sábato, “La Coca” Sarli, among others-, as well as nature and the effects of human beings on earth, in the belief that only men can change this situation. All around the world he has been leaving colourful pieces of work to change the dirty and grey images some places have. Once his art is complete on a wall of a city, that piece of work does not belong to him any longer, but rather, to society. A kind of dialogue and interaction starts, according to him, between people and his art, where freedom to interpret him is allowed and welcome.

About Wall to Wall

Led by the Juddy Roller creative management team, in collaboration with The Benalla Street Art Committee, Wall to Wall Festival’s unique approach to regional arts and regional development has proven to be a revolutionary approach to building stronger and more diverse communities. Wall to Wall festival accessibility offers a range of meaningful ways for large segments of the community to get “hands on” and participate in the event.  Demographics at this years Wall to Wall Festival ranged from children as young as 5 years old, working with our professional artists to create an oversized “paint by numbers” mural, through to people up to 90 years old taking part in the guided street art tours and artist talks. Wall to Wall’s management team is committed to community engagement and participation as a tool for increasing community pride and cultural capital in Benalla and the surrounding district. Wall to Wall Festival’s community engagement programs have been hugely successful, with hundreds of people participating in various events and production elements of the program, as well as thousands attending the festival and enjoying it at their own leisure. Due to the relatively small geographical size of Benalla, the festival creates an all encompassing ambience in the town that has never before existed, helping to enrich community.
