Spanish artist Elbi Elem is now in Italy where she recently finished a new mural in Mantova for the Without Frontiers festival that this year is hosting artists like ETNIK, Elbi Elem, Corn79, Etnik, Panem et Circenses, Fabio Petani, Made 514 and  Zedz. The event is curated by Simona Gavioli and Giulia Giliberti.

As in the most of Elbi Elem’s work, the idea behind this new mural was to play with the surrounding architectonic elements like the neighbouring balconies in order to create depth by integrating them into the composition. As explained by the artist, this also applies for the colour palette, a wide range of yellows and browns that direct the main lines towards the same point inspired by the sun of Lunetta.

About the artist

Previously known as ‘Labuenaylamala’, Elbi Elem started creating kinetic sculptures in 2002 and combining study work with urban art interventions, since she started 7 years ago. Her work is abstract by nature, with a clear interest in the movement and composition of forms in space and volume. In her work balance is everything.
Along with the variety of materials used, architecture, urban landscapes and street textures are a source of inspiration, expressing her work an inner vision of the world. Her latest work strives to combine mural painting and sculpture creating 3D-dimensional, using video and projection as a tool to elevate the work itself, creating a moving picture that has the capacity to transform itself infinitely.
