Last Friday was the opening of “Don’t have a Hashtag Yet” at PlasticMurs gallery, an exhibition with Emak, Miedo12 and Pro176 that intends to avoid labels within the art world, specially when it comes to contemporary expressions of “urban art”.

The exhibition presents the gallery work of three graffiti artists who have been part of the scene for almost 20 years, and whose work has evolved from classic graffiti to contemporary art expressions, but always keeping a close connection to its roots.

The exhibition consists of 7 canvases painted as if they were part of a graffiti piece over the white walls of the gallery. In this way, the exhibition highlights the intrinsic relation between two streams within the Contemporary art scene, making us see and understand contemporary art from another perspective, a perspective that also includes the artistic practices of the street.

According to curator Vicente Torres, the title of the exhibition is an ironic way to say that that being labeled isn’t a concern for these artists, that you can label them if you need to, but the labels won’t change the nature of the work. The exhibition represents a rich encounter between three different styles and expressions that travel with self-confidence from walls to the studio, between classic pieces of graffiti and more delicate and dynamic abstract work.

“Don’t have a Hashtag Yet” runs through April 27th at the gallery located in Calle Denia 45, 40006.
Valencia, Spain.
