Madrid-based URVANITY Art Fair has just announced the preparations for its fourth edition, which will take place during the next couple of months from February 27 to March 1, at the Official College of Architects of Madrid, COAM.

Considered one of the leading contemporary art fairs in Spain, URVANITY brings together art movements such a post-graffiti, Lowbrow Art, Neo Pop as well as other Urban Contemporary influences.

Through the years, the fair has become a meeting point for collectors,  experts and amateurs who can admire and acquire a carefully curated selection of Contemporary New Art. It is a unique event that tries to spread contemporary art and collecting among the general public.

According to its founder and director Sergio Sancho, URVANITY comes from a passion he had as an art lover: increase the visibility of artists who started painting in the street and didn’t have any place in traditional art fairs. Madrid was according to Sancho, the right place to start this adventure.

In its fourth edition, the fair will gather together approximately 30 galleries and more than 90 artists. With more than half of the exhibitors coming from around the world, URVANITY establishes itself as the most important New Contemporary Art Fair in the country also acquiring an international reputation.

According to the organisers, Urvanity’s goal is to reaffirm the 70’s artistic urban movements value: “We are talking about Post-Graffiti, Pop Surrealism or the new Pop Art”, states Sancho. “We want to explore different street art scenarios that since its appearance managed to establish a new dialogue with modernity and has strengthened the actual artistic scene”, adds the Madrid-born, who decided to give up his career in advertisement to jump into this adventure.

About the fair
Urvanity began nourishing Madrid’s Art Week in 2016 with a fresh new artistic twist to what was already being shown. “Even if what we know as New Contemporary Art is already a solid trend in countries like France, Germany, England or the United States, in Spain it was relatively unknown and our market, with recognised names like GripFace, Sue 975 or Isaac Cordal did not have its own platform to approach its audience”, explains Sancho.

In the three previous editions, Urvanity presented the works of more than 200 artists. “Okuda, Shepard Fairey or the media star Banksy have been exhibited in the fair. Also great works by renowned artists like Dan Witz, Miss Van, Jan Kaláb or Sam3, maybe not as publicly recognized but still with successful careers”, says Sancho.

The fair opens on February 27 and will run through March 1, at the Official College of Architects of Madrid, COAM, located on Calle de Hortaleza, 63, 28004 Madrid, Spain.
