Belgian Matthew Dawn is one of the street artists that recently took part of this year’s The Crystal Ship in Ostend, Belgium for which he painted this new mural part of his so-called “paper crown series”.

With a background in digital arts and entertainment, business management and animation, Matthew Dawn started his career designing t-shirts under the name ‘DAWN clothing’. As his career started to grow, bigger projects started to show up, starting collaborations with companies like NIKE ELC, Citroën, Xior and several major event organisers.

His work is known for his bright, colourful pieces with a a focus on realism not often associated with traditional graffiti, but that has become a growing trend within modern urban art. As expressed in an interview with ButterflyArtNews, his work explores the concepts of ego, ignorance, censorship, fame and success, and although his work has a specific concept or meaning behind it, it will always be up to the viewer to interpret them in their own and personal way.

Here are a few images of his last piece, painted for The Crystal Ship 2018 showing the image of a young man wearing a white paper crown.
