“Els rojos i els blaus” is the title of this stunningly simple and beautiful mural by Argentinian artist Elian Chali painted at Universitat Politecnica Valencia in occasion of this year’s Poliniza Dos festival in Valencia, Spain.

The new mural covers the entire sidewall of a building facing a parking space. The huge red canvas is activated by a blue spiral shape and darker square shadow at the center of the piece.
As explained by the artist, besides the floating effect of the blue shape and the grey shadow, this piece seeks to highlight the architectural lines of the building through ‘the transformation of the white surface into red.’
The chromatic vibration of the piece determines the interaction of the different elements in the painting, the background and the building itself. For this mural, Elian decided to only use red and blue because the building is a Trinquete court, a Valencian sport, where each team is represented by the same colours.
Another source of inspiration was the stop sign in front of the wall, which the artist used to establish a connection between what is happening inside the building and what is happening outside.
