Over the past year, the virus has managed to achieve something nothing has seen since WWII; the almost complete shutdown of entire societies worldwide. Lock down rules differ from region to region, and many renowned Street Art festivals have suffered the same fate as bars, restaurants, cafes and so on, being forced to simply cancel all activities until further notice.
One of the few festivals that has managed to survive during the last months, despite an increasing number of Covid19 cases in the country, is the Tbilisi Mural Festival.

Established in 2019 with the support of the city of Tbilisi and and Berlin City Halls, the Tbilisi mural festival has created so far around 24 large-scale murals by both international artists like INNERFIELDS, CASE MACLAIM, APHE & NOAH, ARTEZ, INO, HVRB, EL BOCHO, Collin van der Sluijs, Matthias Mross and KERA, as well as Georgian artists like Dante, Giorgi Maskharashvili, Musya, Luka Japaridze, V45, Irakli Kadeishvili and Zviad Esartia.

According to the organisers, the idea behind their work is to transform Tbilisi into a Street Art metropole.
In occasion of the festival second edition, the Tbilisi Mural Festival entered for the first time the spaces of the Kutaisi International University and the Tbilisi Academy of Arts.

Not sure how the festival was curated or if there was an underlying concept behind it, but the festival resulted in a group of pretty good murals. Here are some of them.
